Hundreds burn calorie at MTN Savanna health walk in Wa

Hundreds of people took to the principal streets of Wa to take advantage of the seventh edition of the “MTN Savanna Fest” Health Walk to burn calorie to keep fit.

The people including both young and old dressed in their MTN yellow outfit aided with music, covered about nine kilometres, walking, jogging and exercising their bodies with joy.

The colourful nature of the event enabled first timers who ordinarily would not have been able to walk that far to complete the nine kilometers distance and were still left with some energy to partake in the aerobics at the end of the walk at the Wa Jubilee Park.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the end of the event, Mr. Obed Adu Amankwa, MTN Upper West Territory Sales Controller, explained that “MTN Savanna Fest” was a festival owned by the company but with different names in different regions.

He said Savanna Fest was the name adopted by the three Northern Regions, adding that every year the festival was celebrated as a way of bonding with their communities and also a way of giving back to these communities they operated in.

He noted that Ghana’s leading telecommunication giant believed in the saying that a healthy mind lived in a healthy body, hence the significance of the burning of the calorie.

Later in the day, eight teams also took part in a football gala competition which saw Zingu community beating Dobile community 3-1 in penalty shootout.

Zingu community therefore took away the ultimate cash prize of GHȼ500.00 and a set of MTN branded jersey while Dobile community also took home a cash prize of GHȼ300.00 and a set of branded jersey for clinching the second position.

Tagrayiri placed third position in the gala competition and were also presented with GHȼ200.00 cash prize.

Mr. Amankwa commended the participants in both events for helping to make the seventh edition of the “MTN Savanna Fest” celebration a big success in the Upper West Region.

He urged all to continue to patronize the wonderful products and services of MTN for the company to continue to grow and also continue to give back to the communities.
