GRNMA supports Mobile Health Care Foundation

The launch of Mobile Health Care Foundation (MOHEC) took place over the weekend on Saturday, 2nd March 2019 at the Mallam Lorry Station in Accra and the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) was there to support.

MOHEC is a non-governmental organization with the aim of strengthening health care delivery through health outreaches in rural communities where access to health care is a difficulty. The Executive Director of the foundation, Mrs. Matilda Yawo Soglo explained that the volunteers she worked with who were mostly health professionals were poised to sacrifice their time and energies to provide health care to Ghanaian rural communities.

The Foundation was launched by the Deputy minister of health, Hon. Tina Mensah who is also the MP for Weija Gbawe Municipality.
The Association, represented by its General Secretary, Mrs. Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo in her speech indicated that, the nurse-patient ratio and nurse-population ratios in Ghana were high and that the initiative was a laudable one since it will help bridge the gap in making health care accessible to the poor and needy in society.

A fund raising was organized to raise the seed money for the purchase of a bus which will have all the required logistics for health screening and the provision of first aid as well as treatment of minor ailments.

The event was attended by the Greater Accra Chief Nursing Officer, Matron of Police hospital, the CHPS coordinator MOH as well representatives of other Health Unions and facilities in Accra.
