COMMISSIONING OF THE WESTERN REGIONAL GUESTHOUSE AND SECRETARIAT

The Western Regional secretariat and Guesthouse was commissioned by Nana Kobina Nketiah V (Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area) on Thursday, 2nd December 2021 at a colourful ceremony held at the forecourt of the Guesthouse. Nana Kobina Nketiah V was assisted by the Chief Director of the Western Regional Coordinating Council who represented the Western Regional Minister, Mrs. Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo, President of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Mr. Sampson Yalley the GRNMA Western Regional Chairman and Rev Philemon Gyapong the Regional Parent. They were also joined by the National Executive Committee and other National Council members.

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association commenced the building of regional secretariats and guesthouses a number of years ago with regional projects at different stages in all the ten (10) administrative regions of the Association. The main objective of the project is to facilitate the running of the Union’s business and also to generate income to support the activities of the association.

The Western Regional project was started in 2016 by the previous administration, led by Evangelist Dr. Kwaku Asante Krobea with the award of contract to Construction Consult with Public Works Department (head office) as the project consultant. The GRNMA Western Regional Executives assisted the National Executive Committee in ensuring that both the contractor and the consultant delivered on their mandate.

The initial standard design for all the regions was a two storey building with 28 guestrooms, conference hall with 250 seating, capacity hall and a cafeteria. Owing to the topography of the land, the structural and architectural drawings were redesigned to add a basement, which added 4 additional guestrooms, 3 offices and a mini conference hall to the plan of the Western Regional Guest House.

The GRNMA is grateful to Mrs Vivian Quartey, Madam Christiana Quayson, and Madam Florence Arthur Mensah for facilitating the acquisition of the land; to DDNS Meredith Mensah (Deceased), Madam Philomina Mensah, DDNS Rtd. Joyce Lamptey and DDNS Hannah Cromwell for securing and protecting the land till the project commenced; all the immediate past national executives especially
Evangelist Dr. Kwaku Asante Krobea and all the Western Regional Executives, both current and past.
