The global theme for the 2025 International Day of the Midwife (IDM) is “Midwives : Critical in Every Crisis”
This theme highlights the vital role midwives play in providing care during humanitarian crises.
The day serves as an opportunity to raise awareness on the critical role midwives play in crisis situations and the need to strengthen the midwifery workforce ensuring they have the needed skills, resources and support to respond effectively in crisis.
The theme further aims to promote a better understanding of the importance of midwifery care in crisis situations, the importance of continuity of midwifery care, and advocate for the recognition of midwives as key healthcare professionals.
