Criteria for Nomination
- A registered member of GRNMA with a valid PIN
- An active member of Nurse Educators Group(NEG) under the GRNMA
- A minimum of 10 years working experience as a nurse/midwife
- A minimum of 5 years teaching experience
- Evidence of teaching at least three different courses
- Evidence of student mentorship/supervision
- Evidence of quality course materials development/book/book chapter
- Evidence of contribution to course/research assessment/evaluation of students
- Evidence of engaging in clinical practice/voluntary service
- Evidence of involvement in NMC assessment of students
- Evidence of attendance/presentation at seminars/symposia/conferences
Short Bio of Dr. Kwaku Asante-Krobea
Dr. Asante served as the first Programme Coordinator of the Perioperative and Critical care Nursing School (PON/CCN) at Korle-Bu from 1999 to 2004 when he was appointed the Principal until his retirement in 2021. During his tenure, he led his team to achieve the following:
- Establishment of an institutional Secretariat with requisite staff
- Successful negotiation for the acceptance of the PON/CCN School by the University of Cape Coast (UCC) as a mentee institution
- Transforming of the school from advanced Diploma Status to Degree awarding under UCC mentorship
- Setting up the appropriate structures for accreditation of the institution with the NAB and UCC
- Removal of the institution from borrowed premises to a befitting three-storey edifice of an ownership facility
- Establishment of a formal Advisory Board
- Academic and Clinical mentorship of junior colleagues now members of staff of the institution
- Development of Memorandum of Understanding between the institution and clinical facilities for student practical training
- Setting up of the process for the integration of the PON/CCN school into Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives culminating into the development of curriculum
- Setting up of the appropriate platform for the establishment of Peri-Operative and Critical Care Nurses Group
Dr Asante Krobea was the 8th President of the GRNMA from 2011 – 2019 and General Secretary from 2003 – 2011. He served on the NMC and GCNM Boards within his tenure as President. He instituted the Dr Docia Kisseih Memorial Lecture in honour of the first president of the association in 2015.
