The Preventive Health Nurses Society of Ghana ( PREHENS-GH), a Specialized Society under GRNMA, had its maiden conference from the 9th to the 12th of September 2024 at the Pentecost Convention Center, Kasoa. The event marked the integration of Community Health Nurses, Registered Community Health Nurses and Public Health Nurses in Ghana into one Specialized Society under GRNMA.
The theme for the conference was “Improving access to management of non-communicable diseases through community wellness centers”. Many invited guests graced the occasion and delivered speeches.
On the 3rd day of the conference, elections were held, and Ms Dora-Jones Yiadoo emerged as the winner and chairman for the society with eight other executives.
The GRNMA President, Mrs Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo in her inaugural address commended the leadership of the society for the good work done, and emphasized on the importance of enhancing the profile of preventive health nurses in Ghana. She further encouraged the executives to utilize the GRNMA journal and newsletter to publish more papers on preventive health issues in Ghana.
Finally, the conference came to a close on the 12th of September, and a dinner dance was organized to climax the occasion.
