Criteria for Nomination
- A registered member of GRNMA with valid PIN
- A minimum of 10 years working experience as a nurse/midwife
- A minimum of 5 years at a managerial position
- Evidence of transformational leadership
- Evidence of leadership/managerial training – certificate/CPD
- Evidence of tangible achievement during leadership tenure
- Evidence of mentorship and succession planning
- Evidence of contribution to policy/relevant documents/decisions/initiatives
- Evidence of serving on committees/boards
- Evidence of attendance/presentation at seminars/symposia/conferences
Short Bio of Mrs. Alice Darkoa Asare-Allotey
She worked as a nurse for 38 years and retired as the Deputy Director of Nursing Service (DDNS) of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital. She led the community psychiatry team for Ablekuma Central for six (6) years whiles working as a staff of Mamprobi Polyclinic. During her seven (7) year tenure as the DDNS of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, she contributed significantly to the quality of nursing care, grooming of staff, solicitation of NGO support to rehabilitate wards, instituted send-off events for retired staff, activated nurse manager weekly meetings, enhanced in-service education, and introduced incident book for nurses at the hospital which was used for appraisal of staff. In addition, she served the GRNMA as the Assistant General Secretary (1991-1994), General Secretary (1994-2003) and President (2003-2012). She was a Board Member of the Commonwealth Nurses and Midwives Federation (2005 to 2014) and a member of the 12th Governing Board of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana. She was awarded the Order of the Volta (Member) by the then President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Agyekum Kufour in 2007.
