She has over twenty years of professional nursing experience with specialization in Oncology Nursing. She obtained her PhD in Nursing from the University of the Western Cape, South Africa in 2013. She holds both local and international leadership positions in professional nursing organizations, including Sigma Theta Tau International. She serves on several boards and committees and is the first nurse to be a Fellow of the Africa Science Leadership Programme. She was also the first Faculty Chairperson for the Oncology Nursing Specialist Programme in Ghana. As of October 2021, Prof. Aziato had published over seventy peer reviewed journal articles, four edited books, two co authored books, and four book chapters, with citations exceeding nine hundred. She has supervised more than forty undergraduate students, over fifty Masters students, and five PhD candidates. She has won eleven research grants as principal or co investigator. Her research led to the development of clinical guidelines for post operative pain management and the Colour Circle Pain Scale. She reviews for several peer reviewed journals and serves on editorial boards. Emerging Nurse Researcher Award for Africa 2017 by Sigma Theta Tau International CENTALS Doctoral Scholarship for PhD in Nursing, University of the Western Cape Unilever Postgraduate Studies Award for MPhil in Nursing, University of Ghana Her passion for research led to the establishment of the Research Mentorship Alliance, an NGO focused on training and mentoring nurses and midwives in research. Her primary research interests include pain, breast cancer, and women\u2019s health.
