Short Biography

Mrs. Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo

Mrs. Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo is the current President of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association and has over fifteen years of experience in trade unionism. She serves as Chairperson of the West African Health Sector Unions Network of Public Services International and Chairperson of the Ghana PSI National Coordinating Council.

She is a Nurse Educator with more than twenty years of experience in Ghana’s health sector. She holds a Master of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Nursing with Psychology from the University of Ghana, Legon, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast.

She is a Foundation Fellow of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives, a Fellow of the West African College of Nurses and Midwives, and a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She serves on several national and international committees and boards.

She has received multiple awards recognizing her dedication to strengthening trade unions and her advocacy on social protection, migration, and adolescent sexual and reproductive health. During her tenure as President, numerous programs and initiatives have been implemented to enhance the visibility of the Association and positively impact members. She has been invited as a panelist and speaker by reputable organizations including WHO AFRO, PSI, ICN, ActionAid, THET, ITCILO, Peoples Health Movement, and Health Justice Initiative.

Criteria for Nomination

  1. A registered member of GRNMA with valid PIN
  2. A minimum of 10 years working experience
  3. Evidence of innovation relevant to nursing or midwifery care
  4. Evidence of design and development of an innovative programme or resource
  5. Evidence of implementation of the innovative programme or resource
  6. Evidence of monitoring and evaluation of programme or resource
  7. Evidence of mentorship in innovative thinking and succession planning
  8. Evidence of contribution to policy, relevant documents, decisions, or initiatives
  9. Evidence of serving on local and international committees or boards
  10. Evidence of attendance or presentation at seminars, symposia, or conferences
