A SHORT PROFILE OF DR. DAVID TENKORANG – TWUM

(GENERAL SECRETARY)

DR. DAVID TENKORANG TWUM-01Dr. David Tenkorang-Twum is a Lecturer at the University of Ghana. He began his nursing education at Koforidua Nursing and Midwifery Training College from 1998-2001, obtaining a State Registered Nursing degree. Between 2001-2004, he worked as a staff nurse at Koforidua Regional Hospital Theatre. In 2005, he attended Komfo Anokye Nurse Anaesthesia Training College and became a Certified Registered Anaesthetist.

Dr. Tenkorang-Twum furthered his education at the University of Ghana, Legon, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2009 and a Master of Philosophy in Nursing. He then earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (Ph.D.) from The University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.

With twenty-three years of post-qualification experience, eighteen of which were in clinical practice, Dr. Tenkorang-Twum rose to become the Head of the Department of Anaesthesia for seven years. He joined the Adult Health Department of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, College of Health Sciences, University of Ghana in 2018.

Dr. Tenkorang-Twum has received several awards, including four Postgraduate Merit Awards from Wits University and the Queen Elizabeth II Scholarship, making him a QES Scholar at the University of Alberta, Canada. Currently, he serves as the General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association.
