
The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) successfully commemorated International Women’s Day 2025 with an inspiring event under the theme “Accelerate Action: Collectively We Can Accelerate Action for Gender Equality.”
It was held at the GRNMA National Secretariat in Accra on March 11, 2025.
The event brought together nurses, midwives, gender advocates, and policymakers to discuss and advance gender equality within the healthcare sector and beyond.
Key Highlights of the Event:
Mrs. Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo, GRNMA President, emphasized the role of nurses and midwives in championing gender equity in healthcare and leadership.
Maribel Akuorkor Okine, Regional Director of the Department of Gender, delivered a powerful address as the Guest of Honour, highlighting policy actions needed to close gender gaps.
Professor Lillian Akorfa Ohene, the Keynote Speaker from the Department of Public Health Nursing, UG, urged women in healthcare to leverage leadership opportunities for systemic change.
Regina Borley Borley, Programs Manager at GenCED, shared insights on empowering young women to break barriers in their professions.
Anna Korley Nartey, National Coordinator of the GRNMA Women & Gender Committee, led engaging discussions on practical steps to accelerate action.
The event also saw networking opportunities to foster mentorship and advocacy among nurses and midwives.
