Empowering Next-Gen Healthcare: GRNMA Commemorates International Youth Day and Launches GRNMA Youth Boot Camp 2026

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) successfully hosted its International Youth Day Celebration at the GRNMA Secretariat in Shiashie, Accra, centered around the powerful theme: “Shaping the Future: Youth Voices in Nursing and Midwifery.”

The event was organized by GRNMA’s National Youth Committee, led by Mrs. Laurena Blaber, and brought together participants, guests, dignitaries, and youth coordinators from various regions.

How the Programme Unfolded

The programme commenced with the arrival of guests and dignitaries, followed by a pre-event interview conducted by GRNMA Media, where participants shared their experiences and thoughts about the Youth Boot Camp and GRNMA as a whole.

Official proceedings opened with a prayer by Mr. Akrofi Francis Ohene (Central Regional Coordinator) and a spoken word piece by Ms. Edna Osei Tutu, followed by the GRNMA anthem.

The Masters of Ceremonies, Ms. Sandra Ofori and Mr. Abraham Achire, acknowledged the dignitaries and invited guests before introducing the Chairperson, Mrs. Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo, President of GRNMA, who delivered her remarks. This was followed by an introduction and welcome address from the Acting National Youth Coordinator, Mrs. Laurena Blaber.

Participants were also treated to a Trade Union Solidarity Song, after which Mr. Sabastian Kpiibanyiri (Northern Zone Coordinator, National Youth Committee) introduced the keynote speaker, Prof. Charles Ampong Adjei of the University of Ghana.

Closing

The Chairperson gave her closing remarks, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Philemon Adu Brempong (Middle Zone Coordinator and Secretary, National Youth Committee), and a closing prayer led by Mr. Mbanamya B. Ishmael (Upper East Regional Coordinator). The event officially ended with photographs and a reception.

Overall, the programme provided an opportunity for participants and stakeholders to interact, recognize contributions, share ideas, and strengthen unity and professional solidarity within GRNMA and its youth structures.
