Celebrating excellence, compassion and dedication in oncology nursing.
The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) proudly celebrates three exceptional members, Naomi Ohene Oti, Priscilla Fitz Osei, and Enam Setsoafia, of the National Radiotherapy, Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Centre at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), who were specially honoured at the 2026 Seats of Strength Awards in recognition of their outstanding dedication to breast cancer care.
The ceremony took place on Sunday, 18 October 2026, at the ESP Hotel in Labone, Accra. The intimate brunch was organised by Women of Valour in partnership with Oh My Hair to celebrate the courage, resilience and strength of women affected by breast cancer.
Recognising Excellence in Oncology Nursing
The three nurses were recognised for their exceptional commitment to caring for women undergoing breast cancer treatment. Through their professionalism, compassion and dedication, they provide comfort and support to patients and their families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
Beyond their clinical responsibilities, Naomi Ohene Oti, Priscilla Fitz Osei and Enam Setsoafia are passionately involved in training and mentoring the next generation of nurses, helping to sustain a culture of compassionate, patient centred care and professional excellence.
Their recognition highlights the indispensable contribution of nurses to cancer care and the wider healthcare system in Ghana.
GRNMA President Advocates Improved Breast Cancer Care
The GRNMA President, Mrs. Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo, attended the event as Guest of Honour and delivered a powerful address highlighting the critical role of nurses in oncology care and the urgent need to strengthen support for breast cancer patients.
Her address emphasised four key priorities:
1. The Vital Role of Nurses in Oncology Care
Recognising nurses as essential members of the healthcare team who provide clinical care, emotional support, education and guidance throughout the cancer treatment journey.
2. Safe Staffing Levels
Calling for adequate staffing in healthcare facilities to improve working conditions for nurses and ensure safe, effective and quality patient care.
3. Comprehensive NHIS Coverage
Advocating for full National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) coverage for breast cancer treatment, including breast reconstruction surgery, to reduce the financial burden on patients and their families.
4. Ending Breast Cancer Stigma
Urging society to reject the stigmatisation and discrimination of breast cancer patients and instead promote compassion, dignity, inclusion and understanding.
These priorities reinforce the importance of a healthcare system that supports patients while recognising and empowering the professionals who care for them.
Celebrating the Spirit of Nursing
The GRNMA congratulates Naomi Ohene Oti, Priscilla Fitz Osei and Enam Setsoafia on this well deserved recognition. Their dedication reflects the highest values of the nursing profession and demonstrates the profound difference that compassionate, skilled and committed nurses make in the lives of patients.
Their achievement is also a reminder of the need to recognise, support and empower nurses who work tirelessly across Ghana’s healthcare facilities.
As an Association, the GRNMA remains committed to advocating for better working conditions, quality healthcare delivery and policies that protect the dignity and wellbeing of healthcare professionals and the people they serve.
Congratulations to Our Outstanding Nurses!
Thank you for raising the flag of the nursing profession high and bringing hope, strength and comfort to mothers, sisters, daughters and families affected by breast cancer.
